A reminder that if you have DNA tested and you have a Runciman ancestor, that you are very welcome to join the Runciman surname DNA project on FamilyTreeDNA (FTDNA).

Yes the public results from the project are purely for yDNA, ie the direct paternal line, but we accept autosomal DNA testers as well, and can help you find connections with others.

You never know what matches you'll find on the different sites.

Many testers on FTDNA tested many years ago when only direct paternal and maternal line testing was available.

They may have subsequently upgraded from their initial yDNA to FamilyFinder, giving you an earlier generation's worth of "saved" DNA for comparisons.

FTDNA also offers phasing of your matches by "side".

Check it out 

If you have already tested FamilyFinder at FTDNA,

- log in, go to Manage projects. search for, and join the Runciman project.

If you have tested with Ancestry, MyHeritage or 23andme, 

- use the autosomal transfer link to upload your DNA file from those companies to FTDNA

then join the project.

The project has an "activity feed" that is private to members where information can be shared. 

There is also GEDmatch.com

It is the one site that offers cross company comparisons where you can easily compare anyone with anyone. 

Wherever you choose to upload your DNA file to, do read the Terms and Conditions to make sure you are comfortable with them.

Please do consider maintaining a public tree somewhere.

We recommend WikiTree - great collaborative, DNA friendly, site with a good range of privacy options for the more recent generations.
